Seagull Mountain Resort

This itinerary was planned long ago, and just last January, we finally made it there. We traveled around late lunchtime and arrived at the resort nearly 3 PM. It was good that we reserved a campsite before going because many walk-in guests were already waiting. Upon reaching the entrance, the cold breeze welcomed us. The pine trees were also very inviting. I really loved the place—it felt like a small piece of paradise.

Our campsite was cute—cuter than the pictures we had seen online. :D We added one pillow and a blanket since there were three of us. The cold could still be felt even inside the tent. At night, we slept closer together to lessen the cold, but it still wasn’t enough… brrrr…

We roamed around the place until sunset, unable to stop ourselves from shivering as we walked. We headed to a small shop just a short walk from the resort to warm our cold faces and hands. We ordered tsokolate and cup noodles. Burp… The service there was good.

At night… brrrr…

We woke up at past 6 AM, ready to explore their falls and swimming pools. We were so early that the shuttle wasn’t available yet, so we decided to walk a kilometer. The surroundings were silent—birds were chirping and trees were swaying. It was indeed a chilly morning.

When we arrived at the falls, it was so quiet. We were the only people there, so we took the opportunity to take pictures. The climate was cold, so we expected the water to be even colder. The drops of water were so refreshing. Our lips were all pale when we finished playing in the water. Then other guests arrived, so we gave them space and exited via the shuttle. (clap)

We packed our things after breakfast for our next stop—the Overlook Nature and Culture Park.

17/06/2016 – We have been so blessed to have conquered the “Pregnant Mountain.” Thank You, God, for the strength and spirit. Indeed, the adventure was worthwhile.

We struggled while climbing through waters, rocky rivers, very steep hills, and walking down narrow paths with cliffs on both the left and right sides. But all the sweat was worth it after witnessing the beauty of the forest—a canopy of tall, verdant trees, cascading waterfalls, cold river waters, and different kinds of flora and fauna. The overlooking view of San Francisco instantly erased the tiredness from our faces.

Last group picture we took was when we were already heading down the mountain.

It was my first time to climb, and the struggles were real. We didn’t eat or drink a hot cup of coffee before heading to the foot of the mountain. We started walking at quarter to six. At first, it was an easy walk with not-so-steep paths, but later came the moderate and then the difficult phase of the trail. I was out of breath hours later, but thankfully, I survived. It was truly amazing to walk through a virgin forest—tall trees, exotic ferns and other flora, cute snakes and frogs we passed by, and even an iguana caught by our tour guide. These were just a few of what we saw during our 8 hours in the forest.

The climb was hard, and so was the descent. The very steep paths, cliffs on both sides, thorny plants, and muddy soil made our walk difficult. But thanks to the guys, they helped us all the way down to the foot of the mountain.

It was 2 PM when we arrived at the foot. We were all tired and thirsty. The experience was great—one of my most memorable firsts! Thank you to my best friend for convincing and accompanying me there. I love you. And most of all, thank You, Father God, for making my first climb a successful one. All glory and praise belong to You.

Spending holidays with your family is one of the best days ever! While waiting for the clock to strike 12 AM, my cousins and I planned to go to Hagimit Falls in the morning. That morning, as I was still half awake, I heard my aunts talking about joining us. My mom woke me up to prepare my things. We, the younger ones, decided to walk to Hagimit Falls. It is quite far from our house—around 5 km, if I am not mistaken.

As we arrived near the falls, the trail became narrow, and my knees trembled a little. Whew! That was unforgettable!

It was my first time being there, even though it is just a few kilometers away from our residence. The water was so cold that it felt like all the warmth in your body would disappear. Hagimit Waterfalls is quite small, but the water flows naturally. The pool that catches the cool water is preserved in its natural form, giving visitors a refreshing place to swim and dive.

Recently, the locals have added cottages for visitors’ comfort and as a source of income. Although cottages are available, the place is still perfect for camping. Visitors can pitch their tents in the designated tent area for a cold camping night by the waterfall.
